GSB - Where Winners Play

  GAME OF THE WEEK

How Long Can They Go?

The Boston Red Sox are the hottest team in baseball right now, and are winners of their last 12. Thanks to some great work by Coco Crisp at the plate and in the field last night, the Sox gave Curt Schilling his 10th win and completed a three-game sweep of the Mets.

Tonight they open up a three-game affair with the Florida Marlins. Newcomer Jason Johnson will try to keep the streak alive, but linesmakers are dubious, as the team takes on Dontrelle Willis in the opener. Currently, the visiting Sox are listed as +118 dogs at GoSportsBet, with the Marlins at -128. Why will the Red Sox lose? Well, they're visiting an NL park, they're facing one of the best young pitchers in the game, and they're facing a hot team that plays great at home (8-1 in their last 9 at home). Why will the Red Sox win? Well, because they have done nothing BUT win lately, and because they've torn up interleague play.

Almost 70% of bettors are siding with the streaking Red Sox on this one, but are they correct? Put your money where your mouth is, and grab a side of this matchup TODAY!

  HOW TO PLAY

This Week: Hansel Wei on Betting Baseball - Part II. Read the whole article in Hansel's Zone at GoSportsBet.

We all know starting pitching is important. Great. Fantastic. This is not news. However, make sure that when you’re analyzing a starting pitching matchup, you look at the factors that are actually important. While many sources only take into account a pitcher’s season ERA and win-loss total to date, we’re a couple months into the season now – long enough for a pitcher’s season totals not to reflect his current form. A 10-3 pitcher with a low ERA might look like a good bet, but if you delve a little deeper, you might find that, after an incredible start, he’s lost his last three starts and put up an ERA of over 6.00 in those games. This is where you need to get your hands on all the information you can find. Is a pitcher struggling with a nagging injury? Does he have offfield issues going on that might affect his performance? Another crucial factor is to compare how a pitcher does on the road versus at home. For some pitchers, there is a huge discrepancy in this respect. Is there one park where, for whatever reason, a pitcher always seems to struggle? If you’re serious about winning, do a little homework and look for the little things that might make a difference. Thanks to the internet, this information is not hard to come by, and it will pay dividends for you in the long run. Another area that is often overlooked is relief pitching. While starters will ideally pitch the bulk of the game, and as a result, should be your first consideration, many games are won and lost in the late innings by bullpens. Look into how a team’s relief pitchers have done both on the season and in recent games. Another important factor is fatigue and depth ...

This Week: Battle Royale

Battle Royale is a fun and simple game based on the children’s game War. Once the ante has been placed, you and the dealer each receive one card face-up. The higher card drawn wins the “battle” and if you win, you double your money. If your card is lower than the dealer's you lose your ante.

In the event of a tie, you can choose to surrender and lose your ante or to “Go to Battle”. The battle commences: you place a bet equal to your ante and each combatant receives an additional card. If you win, you receive both bets back and win the value of your original ante. You do not receive any extra winnings for the additional bet. If you are beaten, you lose both the original ante and the second bet. A big win is achieved when the second set of two cards also results in a tie. You then receive a 3:1 pay out on all the bets placed.
