| GAME OF THE WEEK |
 |
Tiger's Roar
After a six-week absence from golf following the death of his father, Tiger Woods returns to action in this week's US Open. As is usually the case when he plays in a tournament, Tiger is currently the favorite to win: he's listed at 4-1, followed closely by Phil Mickelson at 11-2 and Vijay Singh at 8-1. Retief Goosen is at 12-1, rounding out the "Big Four."
Can Tiger do it? An extensive layoff is bound to leave him a little rusty, but will the rest and added focus, combined with the emotional motivation, make up for it?
If you don't know who will win, but you think you can predict some more specific outcomes this weekend (for instance: who will have the better first round? Ernie Els or Tiger?) then check out our many golf props. Will there be a Hole in One? Will there be a playoff? We've got lines to win, as usual, but we've also got a wide variety of golf props that you might not have looked into before.

| HOW TO PLAY |

|
This Week: Hansel Wei on Betting the World Cup. Read the whole article in Hansel's Zone at GoSportsBet.
As the most popular international sport, fans around the globe are always keen to
see the start of the World Cup every four years. However, sharp bettors around the world
are also licking their chops, as the tournament presents many opportunities for clever
sharps to make a nice profit by wagering on the 32 teams vying for the title of the world’s
best soccer team.
This article will address a few points to keep in mind when wagering on the
World Cup. First of all, the European style of odds-making can throw some North
American bettors for a loop. Don’t hurt your chances by not being totally familiar with
the lines – if you need a refresher, see my article on European odds and the World Cup,
available on my webpage.
Keep in mind how the system works for deciding how teams will advance. This
can influence coaching strategies, and can help a sharp bettor identify whether or not
teams will be pushing hard for the whole game. The top two teams from each group
advance, based on points. Three points are awarded for a win, and one point for a draw. If
two or more teams finish with the same number of points, tiebreakers are used. The first
decider is goal difference, then total goals scored, followed by head-to-head results, and
finally the drawing of lots.
There are times when a certain match result in a team’s final game will guarantee
that both teams advance. For instance, in the 2002 World Cup, Brazil played Turkey in
the last match in their group. If Turkey lost 2-1, drew, or won the game, both Brazil and
Turkey would advance. Crafty bettors identified this, and, knowing that Brazil was the
better team, bet on the exact score of the match, Brazil to win, 2-1. Not surprisingly, this
was the final score of the game.
Unlike in other sports, soccer offers the possibility of a draw. This is a possible
outcome for games that cannot be ignored. For coaches, a draw is often an attractive
outcome – it secures a valuable point. In a round-robin style preliminary round, while it is
always nice to win, it is often more important not to lose. Keep in mind that in the 2002
World Cup, 13 out of 48 group-stage matches ended in a draw, while in the 1998
Tournament, 16 out of 48 matches ended with an even score. Betting the draw can be
profitable if you carefully select your positions and look for value when making bets.
However, unless there’s a strong angle it might be wiser to pass on the draw as you’re
typically betting into a line that has a considerable juice or bookmaker’s commission.

This Week: Bermuda Poker
Bermuda Poker pits your 5-card poker hand against the dealer's, but it adds a couple of twists to provide a strategic element.
After placing the ante, you are dealt 5 cards face up, while the dealer receives 5 cards, with one showing. You must then decide whether to bet or fold. Folding forfeits the hand and the ante is lost. If you decide to bet, twice the amount of the ante is added to the pile and the dealer's cards are displayed.
In order for the bet to continue, the dealer's hand must contain at least an Ace-King to qualify. If the hand does not qualify, your bet and ante are returned and you win an amount equal to the ante. If the dealer's hand does qualify and your hand beats it, the your ante is returned and your bet is paid out according to the value of the hand. If the dealer's hand wins you lose the ante and the bet.
A winning hand pays out according to these odds:
Royal Flush: 100 to 1
Straight flush: 50 to 1
Four of a kind: 20 to 1
Full house: 7 to 1
Flush: 5 to 1
Straight: 4 to 1
Three of a kind: 3 to 1
Two pair: 2 to 1
Pair or A-K: 1 to 1
In addition there is a $1 Progressive coin slot which pays out bonus money on good hands according to these odds:
Royal Flush: %100 of Progressive jackpot
Straight flush: %10 of Progressive jackpot
Four of a kind: $250
Full house: $150
Flush: $100
